Pat Saylor slogs skyward, high above the mighty canyon of the Kahiltna Glacier. Skirting gaping crevasses and strung out rope teams, we soon stood as tiny dots beneath the cathedral couloirs of the West Buttress. Brilliant bluebird blew over to thick fog and the clouds accompanied our turns as we floated freshies all the way back to camp. The tour would acclimatize us for work at a high altitude meteorological station, measuring precipitation and temperature for Professor Osterberg of Dartmouth
