Trekking out through the searing heat through a sea of rolling white dunes, a sense of inner calm passed over me. Sunburnt and exhausted, I blissfully watched the sun descend over the mountains in the distance, turning the already surreal dunes into a vivid canvas of reds and yellows. Truly at ease with these unearthly surroundings, the sun slowly dipped beneath the horizon.
