We made the short, steep hike to the top of Clingmans Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains before sunrise. When we go to the top, the view was obscured with clouds. We waited for the sun to rise, and then continued waiting after the sun had risen, only catching small, occasional glimpses of the scenery. We had just about decided to turn back and go down as most other people had done, but decided to stick it out a little longer. Our patience was rewarded with this stunning view.
