After watching a beautiful sunrise, we hiked down into the Haleakala caldera along the Keonehe'ehe'e (Sliding Sands) trail and out the Halemau'u trail. Silversword were abundant, and we saw a few nene (Hawaii's state bird) near the Holua Cabin. This view, in the middle of our hike, looks back toward the visitor center.
