Like many outdoor enthusiasts I desperately hoped to one day win the permit lottery to hike to the Wave in Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. After numerous trips to Kanab's BLM office and 37 lottery entries I finally hit the jackpot and won a permit in January 2018. Doing this hike was incredible and, of course, making it to the wave was spectacular. The shapes, patterns and coloration of the Navajo sandstone truly make this place something special.
